SET DESIGN PROGRESS
From the beginning, I knew I wanted to create something impactful, blending my love for music visualisation and projection mapping. I explored different ideas, until we set with having two wooden 1.5mx1.60m letters that were 3D and would last for future shows on the many years to come. So the building process began on my backyard.
THE ACADEMY
Moving Waves is a North-London-based Performing Arts academy, focused on community building and creating accessible spaces to explore arts and creativity.
After a year of working with Moving Waves as a Facilitator for a year, I took on the role of Content Creator for TikTok and show Production Designer and Technician. For their 10th year anniversary, we wanted to take things up a notch, so we started planning a show that would make an impact and long lasting memories for the students and parents.
CHOREOGRAPHY
Both choreographed works are the result of a year of work with the Contemporary L3 students in the Academy. Each number was throught to challenge the students in different ways and to create different atmospheres for the audience.
The first number is a dance to The Ordinary by Alex Warren, made in a more traditional lyrical manner. The story was taken by the student's devising sessions. The narrative follows a young girl who moves into a new house. Feeling lost and lonely, she discovers that this new place has magical sculptures that come to life to play with her. She is no longer alone.
The second one was a playful exploration of movement. Co-choreographed by the students and fully devised in collaboration with the use of props and musicality to expand their skills.
