Set in a club where bodies are moving together, it captures the paradox of feeling alone among many… and the longing for connection. As music pulses and the crowd dissolves into one, one is left behind. They navigate the space in search of reconnection, to find intimate moments of belonging. The film transforms the feelings of alienation into a celebration of shared vulnerability and embodied connection.
This project was born as a reaction towards the feeling of alienation that lots of us live and is promoted by our surroundings. A feeling of isolation that has become a shared, yet deeply personal experience. Accentuated by the pandemic and magnified by political instability and environmental crisis, there is a shared sense of moving out of sync with the world, of being stuck while everything and everyone rushes ahead.
This film, leaning more towards the conceptual realm, follows five people ecstatically dancing in a club. Free of prejudice, responsibilities and worry. Shortly, one dancer starts to dissociate and separates from the others. We follow their experience as they navigate this feeling and move around the others, until they find a connection. A second dancer is also expelled from the ‘mass’ and they both immediately click. They are now a single moving entity, surrounded by the others.
Through a Queer lens, the narrative celebrates shared vulnerability, connection, and the need for spaces where one can exist, move, and let go. Attraction, convergence, and the magic of bodies moving together transform the overwhelming sense of separation into a moment of comfort and belonging.
