The story of Anahí
Legend has it that Anahi, the youngest of her siblings, was a member of the Guayaquí tribe, living at the shore of the Paraná river. Not a beautiful girl, but had a gorgeous voice that even the birds stopped their chants to listen to her, and the river calmed the turbulent waters. When spring came, a dangerous tribe arrived to combat the inhabitants. In the battle, Anahi watched her siblings and father die in combat. She bravely fought and the enemies struggled to imprison her, so much that she had to be tied with leather straps. She wept for days, until in a moonless night she took advantage of the guardian’s sleep to escape. She crossed the jungle, but the soldier woke up and found her. The young girl and the sentinel fought until Anahi stabbed him. However she could not escape the whole army. She was tied to a tree and sentenced to death. She started singing, and her sweet melody protected her. At dawn, they found a new tree with red flowers and branches with thorns.
