This film was born from a recurring message and poem written by Izzi Levy—Don’t Trust Fish. The story follows the relationship between a person and an octopus. As they become increasingly intertwined and lose all sense of reality, the person subjects to the other taking over their body and soul.

“don’t trust fish, honestly, don’t even look at them too long because that’s how they get in — they start swimming around in your mind, all glitter and calm like they belong there, like you invited them, but you didn’t, you just looked, that’s all it takes. and then suddenly your thoughts smell faintly of saltwater and guilt and you’re rearranging your room to make space for a bowl you never bought. it’s a trick. a shimmering, slippery infiltration of the psyche. i’m not saying fish are evil, but i’m also not not saying that. are you still reading this? that’s how it starts. they want you distracted, nodding along, thinking maybe you like fish actually. don’t let the fish of today become part of your tomorrow. keep your bowl empty. keep your head clear. don’t trust fish, baby girl, they’re too quiet to be honest.”
